Interpretation of Dummy model

Hello,
i’ve juste finished the Dummy prediction part, and i’m confused how to use this information in order to evaluate to performance of the regression model regading the dataset. Can i have some clarification on this point please ?

the accuracies scores were same (a mistake?) for both classes = 0,23%

Hello,

If you look at the Solution notebook located between the jupyter notebook and the page’s forum (you will have to click on Solution > Look at the solution: to display it) you may usually get some additional information, but try to make the exercises without looking at it!

In this case, the message to retain is that the Dummy model has an accuracy higher than 0.5. This is due to the fact that we have 3/4 of the target belonging to low-revenue class. Therefore, any predictive model giving results below this dummy classifier will not be helpful. Because of this, a Dummy model is one way to set a “benchmark” defined by pure chance predictions.
