Problems after changing email address

Hi,
I have to admit that i initially registered with an “default” email address at Fun-MOOC as i usually do to not get spammed on the primary email account.

Now i changed it into my main email address and got into trouble
not being able to have a look at the forum from within the MOOC anymore.
The reason is that the address/password for Fun-MOOC is automatically used to create a forum account and the change was not syncronized automatically.

Luckily I had bookmarked the direct link to the forum and that still worked so
i was able to change the email address in the forum profile.

I guess that I was the first and one and only user who did change his email address and ran into these troubles but may be you can show up a warning message in the account settings if someone wants to change the email address that first they should change it in the forum settings.

Isn’t it possible to add a new email address in discourse?

Yes as an authentification is handled by LTI to provide Single Sign On between fun-mooc and the Discourse forum, your account is automatically created on the forum with your FUN identifier and email. We explained how to access the forum outside FUN in the course but did not warn users in case of email change.
This is an excellent suggestion.

We also plan to adapt the LTI authentification process to support email changes.
