End of course

Hi guys,

On the presentation page the end date is 9 of may and the end date on the course page is 19th of may. Which one is the good one ?

As I am in module 2, I would like to know what time is left to finish it  ?

Great Mooc by the way !

Regards,

Arnaud.

I think the course ends on the 18th May, but you must have scored at least 60% by 16th May in order to get a certificate.

I am not sure, however, what will happen after 16th or 18th May. I’m close to 60% now, so I should be able to achieve the score, but I would still like some time to complete the exercises on MOOC since the GitHub repo doesn’t have the answer, I think.

And great MOOC indeed! Learning a lot!

I’m puzzled with the last communication that there’s no need to complete all the quizzes and wrap-up quizzes to complete and earn a certificate. I’m on the final wrap-up quiz and concerned about completing it as it might drive my total score down. I’ve been under assumption that all quizzes were required. Not understanding what “completion” means.

I don’t think it can drive down the total score. The total shown on the progress page is the percentage of all attainable points that you have got so far.

Total = {points for correct replies you gave} / {all possible points in the course}

Completing more quizzes does not increase the denominator.
The last communication simply said that you can get the 60% by doing a subset of the quizzes - I finished the 5th module and already have more than 60%, so for the certification, I do not need to do the quizzes for 6 and 7, but I can increase the score.

That explains things! Thank you.

Hi all @MThees @mburkhart @lebigC @kinow

  • May 9 is the registration deadline (if you are here, you already registered  )
  • May 16 is the quizzes deadline: total scores (the one you see on your Progress tab) are collected
  • May 18: certificates issued ; if your total score >= 60% you will get your certificate whether you completed all the quizzes or not.

Thanks for your comments on the course.

Hi,
Is there a possible of extending the grading by a week atleast?

Thanks,
Shan

We will not be extending this session.
However, we plan to reopen an updated version in the fall of this year.

And the static version of the MOOC is available here: Introduction — Scikit-learn course
It is also where we are going to make the incremental improvements.
